CNS Programs

The Centre for Nursing Studies offers a variety of programs designed to provide high quality nursing education. The CNS produces caring, skilled and knowledgeable nurses for a continuously changing health care system.

PROGRAMS OFFERED
Bachelor of Nursing
(Collaborative) Program

  • A four-year basic nursing education program designed to prepare competent entry-level nurses to meet the health care challenges of today and tomorrow.

Practical Nursing Program

  • A four-semester basic nursing education program designed to produce licensed practical nurses ready to contribute positively to a wellness-oriented, client-focused and consumer-sensitive health care system.

Nurse Practitioner Program

  • The Bachelor of Nursing (Post RN) Nurse Practitioner Primary Health Care Program (Memorial University of Newfoundland) is designed to provide registered nurses with advanced preparation and skills to practice as Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioners.

Continuing Nursing Studies

  • Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse re-entry programs
  • Post-basic specialty programs/courses
  • Professional development courses

The CNS strives to promote an environment that facilitates learning across the continuum of nursing education and aims to prepare caring and competent practitioners and leaders through a commitment to excellence in nursing education, scholarship, research and practice.

The CNS has approximately 60 full-time faculty members as well as a large number of part - time and sessional faculty.

The CNS masters- and PhD-prepared nurse educators have a wide range of clinical expertise. The CNS has approximately 800 students studying in various programs.
